Industrial processes

We provide several methods of protection for production processes and production lines, such as spark, flame, heat, smoke or carbon monoxide detection. We use water sprays or a waterless extinguishing system to extinguish fires. Water based extinguishing systems can also be installed outside. This is possible by using a system designed for extinguishing units and ducts.

Spark detection and extinguishing systems

We provide the best spark detectors and extinguishing systems for all types of dust extraction ducts, transporters, filters and silos. In addition to spark detection, a single control unit can monitor the fan and bearing temperatures, and shut down the system before any major damage is done.

Integrated, water-based extinguishing units

Optimised for the protection of pneumatic transport ducts

Compact extinguishing units are very fast and can extinguish sparks and incandescent particles from and airflow moving at the speed of 40 meters per second (>140 km/h). The only extinguishing agent used is water. The amount of water optimised for the target can rarely cause damage to the process protected by the system.

Flame detectors

Optimal detection technology is always chosen based on the material that is likely to ignite. For example a strong plastic fire causes a large amount of smoke and can therefore prevent a detector from sensing UV radiation. In this case the best solution is IR detectors that sense changes at three separate wavelengths. The detectors’ sensitivity and relay time settings can be modified easily without any special tools.

Our flame detectors can detect a 0.3 m2-sized flame from a distance of 60 m. Despite being extremely sensitive the detectors are very immune to different kinds of sources of error, such as electric arc welding.

Protection for rooms and areas

At its simplest, our extinguishing solution consists of a single automatic extinguisher or multiple units, which are controlled with desired actuation technique. The systems and devices are designed to adapt the user’s needs and desires. All systems can also be implemented with central control electronics, which means that the system has virtually unlimited possibilities for management and it can be integrated to all monitoring, alarm and control systems as well as building and plant automation and management.

The systems can utilize all known fire detection technologies and they can be equipped to work with intelligent smoke, heat and combination detectors, linear and laser heat sensing, mechanical sensors, as well as with special detectors intended for special risk protection in demanding sites.

Overheating protectors

In the mechanical wood industry, fires are often caused by overheating of surfacing machines or collectors placed inside sawdust ducts .

We have over 10 years’ experience in designing and implementing overheating protectors for electrical motors, bearing housings, machine tools and various conveyor system components. Atexon’s overheating protectors offer high error resistance and are therefore also suitable for use in heavy industries. Temperature alarm levels are set separately for each process, and overheated machines/devices are stopped automatically. The overheating guards can be integrated into a central unit. Once this has been done, a light signal and accompanying siren will notify the user every time an alarm is triggered. All spark detection and extinguishing systems come with an integrated overheating guard option, which enables full protection of all blowers and other devices prone to overheating.

Backfire detectors

Atexon backfire detectors are designed for solid fuel boiler backfire protection. The system is based on optical spark detection that detects sparks within one millisecond. The spark detector relays an alarm to the T2Z control unit, which calculates the extinguishing time. A standard extinguishing action lasts for 10 seconds with a water flow rate of 0.5 litres per second. Extinguishing continues automatically as required.
